Born in 1998 under the Marseille sun, Kulte is more than just a clothing brand. It's an attitude, a sense of belonging, and a vision of style where graphic design, pop culture, and the South of France blend together to create a unique signature. In this article, we tell you how our visual identity was forged, between the Mediterranean coast, the 70s, and a healthy dose of well-placed irony.

A birth between sea, concrete and light

Kulte was born in Marseille, a city at the crossroads of influences, between raw modernity and popular charm. It was here that the very first logo was created, inspired by the clean lines of local street art , the outdated signs of neighborhood shops , and the fiery colors of the Mediterranean twilight .

Since then, this original inspiration has never left us: it slips into the screen-printed visuals , into the in-house typography , into the reassuring colours .

A strong graphic culture

At Kulte, the visuals aren't decorative, they're narrative . Every motif, every print is conceived as a nod: to an era, a city, a summer memory. Our collections are punctuated with references to cinema, music, the 90s, and Mediterranean holidays.

All this is achieved with a true commitment to graphic design: an in-house creative studio , artistic collaborations, and exclusive hand-drawn patterns. We give as much care to a patterned cap as we do to a collector's item from the H24 capsule collection .

A visual legacy that evolves

25 years after its creation, Kulte continues to nurture its Marseilles heritage while opening it up to new influences. The city changes, styles evolve, but our Southern roots remain a graphic compass . We're not talking about visual appropriation here, but about creative transmission , a sincere tribute to a strong and free local culture .

And if certain visuals resonate in Tokyo or New York, it is because they tell a universal story: that of an endless summer , of music in the ears , of a Kulte that crosses borders without denying itself .

Why is this important to us?

Because today, we expect a brand to be clear about its values, its history, its identity . At Kulte, we champion transparent manufacturing (Portugal, organic cotton, short supply chains), but also a demanding and deeply rooted graphic approach .

Each piece is designed to last, yes. But also to make sense. And to convey a little of that Southern energy that has driven us since day one.
